What Is a Day IOP?

Day IOP is a full-day intensive outpatient program where patients attend therapy during the day and go home at night. Day IOP is typically the second step in a participant’s addiction recovery unless the severity of the addiction does not require 24/7 care. Participants will need a sober home environment to continue with outpatient treatment and keep the risk of relapsing low.

A Day IOP is best for individuals who:

  • Are unable to take time away from work or family commitments
  • Do not have an addiction severe enough for 24/7 care
  • Can abstain from drugs or alcohol without supervision
  • Are able to commit to several hours of therapy each day
  • Have completed a detox or residential treatment program

During the day, participants will work with behavioral therapists to understand how addiction affects them and create coping skills for maintaining their sobriety. They participate in group therapy to practice their coping skills and build confidence in maintaining their sobriety while out in public. Participants also get a chance to work with family members to rebuild trust and any broken relationships caused by their addiction.

At Clearhaven Recovery, our day IOP can help participants with their addiction recovery while keeping up with their work and family commitments. Day IOP only works if participants can maintain their sobriety without 24/7 supervision.
